GEN'S MOLASSES SPICE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
Pinch salt
2 c. flour, rounded
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk
3-4 tbsp. molasses
2 tbsp. butter, melted

Mix together the first seven ingredients. Remove 1/2 cup of this crumb mixture and save for topping. Add the egg, baking soda, sour milk and molasses to the remaining dry mixture. Mix together. Pour into a greased 8 x 12 inch pan. Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter to the reserved topping crumb mixture. Blend and add to the top of the cake. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. (To make sour milk, add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to milk and let stand for 15 minutes).
