PECAN PIE SURPRISE BARS 
1 pkg. (18 1/2 oz.) Pillsbury butter or yellow cake
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg
1 c. pecans, chopped

FILLING:

2/3 c. reserved cake mix
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Combine all ingredients and beat at medium speed 1-2 minutes.

Generously grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Reserve 2/3 of dry cake mix for filling.

In large mixing bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg; mix until crumbly. Press in prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Meanwhile, prepare filling. Pour filling over partially baked crust; sprinkle with pecans. Return to oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until filling is set. Cool; cut into bars. 3 dozen bars.
