OLD FASHIONED FUDGE 
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. milk
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate or 1/3 c. cocoa
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Butter loaf pan. Mix sugar, milk chocolate, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat until chocolate is melted and sugar dissolved. Cook; stir occasionally to 234 degrees on candy thermometer. Remove from heat; add batter. Cool mixture to 120 degrees without stirring. Add vanilla; beat for 5 to 10 minutes with wooden spoon. Quickly stir in nuts. Pour in pan. Cool.
