CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE 
CAKE:

1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
Pinch of cream of tartar or salt
4 egg whites
1 1/2 c. cold water

FROSTING:

1 (2 env.) pkg. low calorie whipped topping
1 1/2 c. cold water
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 (4 serving) env. instant chocolate pudding mix
Pinch of salt
Sugar substitute equal to 1/4 c.

To prepare the cake, ignore the package directions that call for eggs. Instead, sprinkle cream of tartar or salt on the 4 egg whites and whip them until stiff peaks form. Add the water to the cake mix and beat with electric mixer for 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully fold egg whites into cake batter. Divide the batter into 2 (10 inch) round non-stick cake pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. Cool on wire racks.

To prepare frosting, combine all ingredients and whip with electric mixer for 2 minutes. 16 servings, 197 calories each.
