BISHOP'S BREAD | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 2 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. sour milk 1 egg 1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening. Save 3/4 cup of mixture for top crumbs. To the remainder add baking powder, soda, cinnamon, egg and sour milk. Beat briskly until batter is smooth. Pour into an oiled pan and scatter crumbs of original mixture on top. Bake about 1 hour and 25 minutes at 375 degrees in a loaf pan. This recipe is a handed down recipe. |
