CHEESE TOPPED FRENCH BREAD 
1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 med. onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/2 c. bacon bits

Mix mayonnaise, cheese, onion, garlic powder and mustard together well. Spread half of mixture on each half bread. Sprinkle bits of bacon bits on both pieces. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven until hot and bubbly. Remove and let cool a few minutes. Cut in strips crosswise and serve warm. May be made ahead and reheated in microwave.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
