1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
Enough flour to make dough stiff

Combine all ingredients. Bake at 375 to 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.
