MY MOTHER'S SUGAR COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

FROSTING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add flour mixture, then the milk. Refrigerate overnight or at least 2 hours before use. Roll to 1/4 inch thick and cut in shapes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen, depending on size of cookie cutter. Mix ingredients and frost with frosting when cooled.
