CALIFORNIA WALNUT PIE 
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 tbsp. flour
1 1/4 c. light corn syrup
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
1 c. walnut pieces

Mix brown sugar and flour in saucepan. Add corn syrup, butter and salt. Warm over low heat, stirring occasionally, just until butter is melted. Beat eggs with vanilla until combined. Add sugar mixture and stir. Pour into pie shell and sprinkle with walnuts. Bake on lower rack of 375 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until filling is set in center. Cool before cutting.

I made this pie last night and it turned out really well. My only suggestion would be to really watch and not heat up the sugar/karo mixture too much because when you mix it with the eggs and vanilla you will cook the eggs and it will turn out bad. You could probably melt the butter in the microwave and add it to the karo and get the same effect. Overall, I would say this pie is good!

This is a great recipe that I've used for years. I use part pecans and part English walnuts for a total of 1 1/2 cups of nuts. Neither do I stick to just white Karo syrup but use part dark Karo too. These changes are just my preference. The pie is great either way!
