CHOCOLATE SPICE POUND CAKE | |
2 c. sifted flour 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. butter (1 stick) 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. water 4 tbsp. cocoa 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla Mix together flour, sugar, soda and cinnamon and set aside. Heat together in medium saucepan the butter, shortening, cocoa and water. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes. Add to dry ingredients. Mix well and blend in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes until knife inserted comes out clean. Let cool 25 minutes before removing from pan. FROSTING: 2 heaping tbsp. cocoa 1 sm. can evaporated milk plus enough water to make 2/3 c. 1 stick butter 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla Mix in medium saucepan, bring to boil and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Beat for about a minute. Drizzle over warm cake. |
