SAND CRESCENTS 
1 c. butter
1/4 c. plus 1 tbsp. sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Additional sifted powdered sugar

Combine butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla, beating well. Gradually add flour and chopped pecans, mixing just until well blended.

Shape dough into small crescents; place dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees f or 10 to 12 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Roll in additional sugar. Store in airtight containers. Yield 2 dozen.
