ORANGE DATE LOAF CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs, separated
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped dates
Rind of 1 orange, grated
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream sugar and butter together. Stir in egg yolks. Add vanilla. Sift flour, soda, and salt together. Add to creamed mixture. Add dates, orange rind, and nuts together; mix well. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Bake in greased loaf pan for 1 hour 15 minutes at 300 degrees. Remove from pan while hot. Spread on 1/3 cup powdered sugar that has been moistened with orange juice.
