ORANGE LOAF CAKE 
1 c. butter
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (7 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped
4 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. chopped pecans
1 sm. can crushed pineapple
Icing (recipe below)

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, beat. Add milk. Add dry ingredients. Add nuts and dates. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Pour icing over cake when removed from oven.

ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 c. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind

Mix and set aside while cake bakes. Stir occasionally to dissolve sugar. Pour over cake as it comes out of oven. Let it soak in before removing from pan.
