ANISETTE BISCUITS
3 c. all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening (butter)
3 eggs
2 oz. anisette (or 2 tsp. anise extract)

Cream shortening and add sugar; beat until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in sifted dry ingredients and add the anisette; mix well.

Shape into 4 loaves. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. (If your oven runs HOT, bake at 325 degrees.) When baked, remove from oven and place immediately on cutting board.

Cut into 1/2-inch slices. Place slices, cut side up, on baking sheet and place in low heated oven to toast. Turn them to toast on both sides. This is approximately 7 minutes on each side. Remove, cool, and serve.
