GRANDMA'S SWEET POTATOES | |
Butter 6 sweet potatoes Ground cloves 1/2 c. water Salt Cinnamon Ginger Brown sugar 1 to 2 tbsp. Bourbon 1/2 c. pecans, chopped Melt 3/4 to 1 stick of butter in heavy skillet. Slice sweet potatoes lengthwise and put into melted butter. Sprinkle a little ground cloves, cinnamon and ginger over the potatoes. Add 3/4 to 1 box of brown sugar, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup water, dash of salt and 1 to 2 tablespoons Bourbon and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Cover and simmer over low heat until tender (about 30 to 40 minutes). Remove lid and turn up heat until most of the moisture is gone and syrup forms. |
