SOUTHERN BAR-B-QUES | |
SAUCE: Mix and simmer 30 minutes: 1/4 lb. (1 stick) butter 1 sm. bottle A-1 sauce 1 sm. bottle Worcestershire sauce 1 sm. onion, thinly chopped Juice of 1 lemon and some grated peel (can substitute 2 tbsp. lemon juice from a bottle) 1 clove garlic, mashed (substitute 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. garlic powder) 3-4 bay leaves Red and black pepper to taste Salt to taste Juice of turkey or beef Cook turkey or beef until done. We use turkey breast you can buy in the frozen meat department. Use the juice in bottom of pan to dilute the sauce if sauce is too strong dilute to taste with water and bouillon. Dab sauce over thinly sliced beef or turkey, be sure to use all of the sauce. Half of the recipe is great plenty for 5 pounds of meat. Serve hot on large or small sandwich buns. This recipe freezes well for later use. Great for large gatherings in the summer as well as winter. |
