CRISPIX PUPPY CHOW (SIMILAR TO
CHEX MUDDY BUDDIES)

Share puppy chow with someone you love.

1 (12 oz.) box Crispix cereal
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (Hershey's recommended)
1 cup peanut butter (Jif recommended)
5 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar

Pour out cereal into large bowl and set aside.

In 1-quart saucepan, heat chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter over low heat, stirring frequently until melted. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour mixture slowly over cereal while stirring with a spatula to evenly coat. Pour into a 2-gallon resealable plastic storage bag or grocery bag. Add powdered sugar slowly. Shake until well coated. Spread onto wax paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Serves about 12.

I needed to make a couple of changes. I only had real butter and milk chocolate chips. I believe it would be better with semi sweet chips. I also believe that only half of the powdered sugar is needed. I had an abundance on the bottom after. Other than that, this is a great recipe!

Taste was good but the chocolate/peanut butter mix was to thick. Crushed a lot of the Cripix when mixing. Checked a few other recipes and they call for I stick of butter. 3 tbs would probably make the difference. It is still good just kind of smaller pieces, I guess.

This recipe could also be done by using the microwave. Melt chocolate, peanut butter and butter for 30 seconds to 1 minute at a time until completely melted (about 3 to 5 minutes). It's safer, but the bowl you melt it in will get very hot, so BE CAREFUL!

Have been having some bake sales during lunch at my kids H.S. to raise money for after prom. The puppy chow is the first to go. Today we had 2 mom's make it. Looked up the recipe so I can make a couple of batches for tomorrow. It's delicious!! BTW we sold sandwich baggies of it for $.50.
