OATMEAL MOLASSES BREAD 
1 1/2 c. quick oats
1 qt. milk
3/4 c. molasses
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
7 3/4 to 8 c. flour

Cook oats in milk 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Add molasses, salt, and shortening. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast. Work in flour. Turn on lightly floured pan or board and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl. Cover; let rise to double bulk. Punch down and shape into 3 loaves. Let rise to almost double again. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce oven to 375 degrees. Bake 40 minutes more. Remove from pans. Brush with shortening. Cool. Preparation time 3 hours. Yields 3 loaves. Baking time: 50 minutes. Can freeze.
