RED VELVET CAKE 
CAKE:

I:

1 oz. bottle of red coloring
1 oz. bottle water
3 lg. tbsp. Nestles Quik

II:

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. Swanson cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. vinegar

ICING:

I:

1/4 c. flour
1 c. milk

II:

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar

Mix part I of cake and set aside. Mix part II well, all except vinegar. Then add part I and vinegar. Bake 350 degrees 25 minutes in 9 x 13 inch pan.

Cook part I of icing until thick, stirring constantly. Put in refrigerator until cool. Cream part II and then add part I.
