GINGERBREAD 
2 c. Barbados molasses
3/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. baking soda

TOPPING:

1 c. heavy cream, whipped

Bring molasses and butter to a boil in a large pot. Remove from heat and add baking soda and spices. (Mixture will foam up.) Add flour in thirds and mix well. Then stir in egg and baking powder. Pour mix into 13 x 18 inch pan, oiled, which has been preheated for 5 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cool and serve with whipped cream.
