4 c. chopped apples
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Cream sugar, shortening, and eggs. Add flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well. Add apples and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Cool, serve with sauce.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. thick cream
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream brown sugar, sugar and butter. Add cream and vanilla. Spoon over cake.
