HALF-HOUR PUDDING 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. flour
1 rounded tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt

Mix and pour into a greased 8 or 9 inch pan. 1 3/4 c. cold water

Mix and pour on top of batter, and bake in moderate oven for 1/2 hour.

The work-worn prairie cooks often had to cook with a tight food budget so they made-do with what was on hand. This was an easy pudding to stir up, and is quite tasty.
