TOMATO DUMPLINGS 
2 qts. stewed tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. fat, melted

Heat tomatoes, salt, pepper, and sugar in saucepan with cover. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add this to mixture, the milk and melted fat or salad oil to make a soft dough. Heat tomatoes to boiling, then reduce heat to simmer. Drop dumplings in by spoonful and cover tightly and steam without lifting cover for 12 to 15 minutes. Serves 4 or 5 people.
