FRENCH APPLE CAKE 
3 c. raw apples, chopped
1/2 box dark raisins
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. sugar
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs

Mix all ingredients by hand. Pour into a well greased tube pan and bake about 1 hour and 45 minutes at 300 degrees.

ICING:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. dark corn syrup
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients. Cook over medium heat until soft ball forms when dropped in cold water. Pour over cake while hot. Serves 15.
