CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES 
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt chocolate and butter together over low heat. Set aside to cool. Beat eggs well; add sugar and cooled chocolate mixture, mix well. Sift together, remaining ingredients, add to chocolate mixture, mix well. Pour half batter into greased 8 inch square pan.

CREAM CHEESE BATTER:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Nuts (opt.)

Combine first 4 ingredients in mixing bowl, beat well. Pour cream cheese mixture over chocolate layer in pan. Top with remaining chocolate batter. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. Cool, cut into squares.
