CRACKLIN' BREAD 
2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. melted shortening
1 tsp. sugar
1 1/2 c. cracklins (may use more)

Mix dry ingredients together. Stir into milk and shortening. Add cracklins. Bake in hot oven at 400 degrees in a well greased pan until brown.
