VERMONT MAPLE - APPLE 
6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. whole wheat pastry flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. milk
1/2 c. pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 med. apples (2 cups), peeled & coarsely chopped

Melt butter in 2 quart casserole dish. Stir brown sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together. Combine milk, syrup and vanilla. Pour over flour mixture, blend until smooth. Pour batter over melted butter in casserole; do not stir. Place apples on batter. Bake in 375 degree oven 35 to 40 minutes until crust turns brown. 4 to 6 servings.
