DATE BARS 
1 3/4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. oatmeal
1 3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix into a crumb mixture.

1 c. dates
1 c. sugar
1 c. water

Add chopped nuts. Put 1/2 of the crumbs into a 9x13 pan. Spread Date Filling over the crumbs. Put the remaining crumb on top. Bake 30 minutes in a slow oven (325 degrees). For a little more decoration, mix a little powdered sugar and flour, then sprinkle over the crumbs and bake.
