GREEN TOMATO PICKLES 
3 gals. (or 6 qts.) tomatoes
1 gal. (or 2 qts.) onions
3 pints (or 1 1/2 pts.) vinegar
1/2 c. (or 1/4 c.) salt
1/2 c. (or 1/4 c.) hot pepper
6 c. (or 3 c.) sugar

Mix and boil until tomatoes are dull (does not take long after it comes to a boil). Put in jars hot, add a pinch of alum and seal.
