3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. dates, chopped
1/3 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
Corn flakes, crushed
Cherries, cut in half

Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in eggs, milk and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and blend in. Add nuts, dates and chopped cherries. Roll 1 tablespoon of dough into ball. Roll ball in cornflake crumbs and top with 1/2 cherry. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
