DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. soft shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs, unbeaten

Sift together flour, sugar, salt and soda. Add shortening, 2/3 cup buttermilk and vanilla. Beat on No. 3 speed of mixer for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk and 2 eggs, unbeaten. Beat on No. 3 speed for 2 minutes. Pour into 2 greased 8 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. When cool, ice with Philadelphia Cream Cheese Icing.

PHILADELPHIA CREAM CHEESE ICING:

3 c. confectioners' sugar
1 sq. chocolate
2 cakes cream cheese
2 tsp. orange juice

Sift sugar, mix in cheese. Add orange juice and melted chocolate, mix well.
