ITALIAN CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
8 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves (ground)
1/2 tsp. black pepper
4 jiggers of whiskey
2 c. milk
1 c. nuts, chopped

Sift flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add sugar, cocoa and spices. Then add shortening and liquids. Mix with electric mixer at lowest speed or blend by hand. Add nuts and mix thoroughly. Make small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from oven and dip in frosting.

CHOCOLATE ICING:

3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 lbs. confectioners sugar
9 tbsp. cocoa
Hot coffee enough to make it spread easily

Beat all together with mixer.
