KATE SMITH'S FRANKS IN BAKING
DISH
 
8 franks
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. minced onion
2 tbsp. minced celery
2 tsp. chopped parsley
1/8 tsp. dried basil
3 c. soft bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste

Split franks lengthwise, but not quite through. Place in greased shallow baking dish. Melt butter in skillet and add minced onion, and celery, parsley, and basil. Cook over low heat until onion and celery are tender; add bread crumbs, blend well. Season with salt and pepper. Moisten with 2 tablespoons hot water and stuff mixture into split franks. Put a little water in the baking dish to keep the franks from burning. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
