MOM SMITH'S FOUR LAYER PIE 
LAYER 1:

1 stick softened butter
1 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts chopped finely

Mix together well and press into bottom of 2-quart baking dish. Bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

LAYER 2:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. Cool Whip
1 c. powdered sugar

Beat with mixer all ingredients until fluffy, then spread on cooled crust.

LAYER 3:

2 sm. pkgs. instant chocolate pudding
3 c. cold milk

Beat together until thick and spread over cream cheese layer.

LAYER 4:

After pudding has set, spread a layer of Cool Whip over top. Add toasted, chopped pecans and coconut if desired.
