CHOCOLATE CAKE & FROSTING 
2 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter

Cream well. 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour with 1/2 c. cocoa added

Mix well. Last add 1 cup boiling water with 1 teaspoon baking soda in boiling water. This makes a very thin batter. I sift the flour and cocoa together.

CREAMY CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter
1 (12 sq.) chocolate
2 c. confectioners' sugar

Beat well and frost cake.
