SPANISH RICE WITH GROUND MEAT 
1 lb. ground beef or turkey
1 med. onion, chopped (1/2 c.)
2 c. water
1 c. uncooked rice (not instant)
1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
3/4 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. oregano leaves
1/8 tsp. pepper
Several dashes hot sauce (opt.)

Cook meat and onion until browned, drain and rinse with hot water to remove excess grease. Add the remaining ingredients and heat to boiling. Reduce to simmer, cover, and cook 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water as necessary to prevent sticking. Makes 6 servings.
