HAMBURGER AND TURNIP STIR-FRY | |
Good substitute for fried potatoes and onions. Low calorie too. 1/2 lb. ground beef chuck 1/2 cup chopped leeks (green ends) 1/2 cup chopped white onions 1 cup red bell peppers, cut into strips 3 tsp. salt 2 tsp. garlic powder 2 tsp. black pepper 1 large turnip (sliced & do not peel) 1 cup water In a skillet, brown ground beef, leeks, onions, bell peppers, salt, garlic powder and black pepper over medium heat until beef is done. Drain excess oil. Set aside. Rinse turnip and cut off both rough ends. Slice turnip vertically. Add water and turnips (do not peel) together and bring to a boil on medium heat until turnips slightly tender. Mix ground beef mixture and turnips in skillet and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Enjoy!
