OLD FASHIONED CORN BREAD 
2 1/2 c. white corn meal
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt or light salt
1 tsp. onion powder
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. sour cream
2 eggs, unbeaten
1/4 c. melted bacon drippings
Vegetable oil may be substituted for bacon drippings

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease 9 inch square baking pan (or 9 inch black iron skillet). Mix above ingredients together. Turn into pan and bake until golden brown and edges start to leave pan, about 20 to 35 minutes, depending on oven. Wonderful for just plain eating and makes fabulous base for corn bread stuffing.
