OLD FASHIONED LEMONADE | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. water Finely grated peel of 1 lemon 1 1/2 c. lemon juice Ice cubes Cold water Lemon slices Fresh mint leaves (optional) Mix sugar, 1 1/2 cups water and lemon peel in sauce pan. Stirring constantly, bring to boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Squeeze 1 1/2 cups lemon juice and add to cooled sugar and water mixture. Pour lemonade syrup into jar and cover tightly. Can be stored in refrigerator for 2 or 3 weeks. When ready to serve put 2 ice cubes in each glass. Pour 1/4 c. syrup over ice cubes. Add 3/4 cup cold water, stir. Float thin slice of lemon and mint leaf on top of each glass. Makes syrup for 14 glasses of lemonade. |
