CHERRY NUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. white sugar
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. cherry juice
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. almond
4 egg whites, unbeaten
18 maraschino cherries
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Sift together flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cream Crisco with sifted ingredients together, add liquid slowly, then egg whites. Beat together, fold in cherries and nuts and place in greased pans lined with wax paper. Bake in 2 layers at 350 degrees about 25 minutes or until done.
