BLACK BOTTOM BANANA BARS 
1/2 c. soft butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. mashed ripe bananas
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, cream butter, sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture with bananas. Divide batter in half. Blend cocoa into half of batter. Turn chocolate batter into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Spoon banana batter evenly over chocolate batter. Cover with chocolate chips and nuts. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool and cut into 2 inch squares. Makes 24 bars.
