ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 lb. pitted dates (cut up with scissors)
1 can coconut
1 lb. candy orange slices
1/2 c. self-rising flour
2 c. chopped nuts

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Mix fruit and nuts together; add flour and fruit and nut mixture to the rest alternating. Bake at 250 degrees for 3-3 1/2 hours. Let stand in pan for 30 minutes. Poke holes in cake with toothpick and pour on a glazed mixture of orange juice and confectioners sugar. Let stand until cool.
