ORANGE CANDY SLICES CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 c. nuts, chopped
4 oz. coconut, shredded
8 oz. dates, cut up
1 1/2 lb. orange slices, cut up

Cream butter and sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Beat eggs one at a time. Mix dates, orange slices, coconut and 1/2 cup flour. Mix well until well coated with flour and separated. Add dry ingredients to the cream mixture with buttermilk. Spoon into 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 2 1/2 hours.
