CANDY ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 c. butter
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 lb. dates, chopped
2 c. nuts, chopped
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda, stir in milk
2 c. coconut
1 lb. chopped candy slices

Make glaze with 2 cups powdered sugar and 1/2 cup orange juice.

Mix butter, sugar and eggs and beat well. Add flour and milk mixture and beat. Ad rest of ingredients. Bake in tube pan at 325 degrees for one hour and 30 to 45 minutes. Test with toothpick. When cake is done remove from oven and pour glaze over the top and let it run down the sides of pan. Cool in pan for about an hour. Remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
