DATE NUT BARS 
1 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
6 oz. dates, chopped

Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Beat eggs until light. Add vanilla, nuts, chopped dates and mix well. Pat in a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350°F for about 40 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

Variation: Roll cut bars in confectioners' sugar for a special touch.
