BREAD PUDDING 
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1/3 c. sugar
Dash salt
3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 slices day old bread

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Blend eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla. Gradually stir in milk; set aside.

Break bread into pieces (approximately 1"). Place in glass 8"x8"x2" baking dish. Pour milk mixture over bread, bake 30 to 35 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or chilled. Try hot lemon sauce for a treat.

LEMON SAUCE:

1/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 1/3 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. lemon peel
2 tbsp. lemon juice

In 2 quart saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Gradually stir in water until smooth. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in butter, lemon peel and lemon juice until well blended. Serve warm over bread pudding.
