CECILIA HERBERT'S SWEET AND SOUR
CABBAGE
 
1 sm. head cabbage, chopped fine
1/4 lb. bacon, cut in sm. pieces
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. water

Fry out bacon until crisp. Add sugar, vinegar and water. Simmer a few minutes. It should be extra sour sweet as cabbage takes it up. Add cabbage and cook over low heat until tender.
