JAM NUT SQUARES 
3/4 c. flour
5 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. milk

Sift flour and sugar. Cut in butter. Add milk to make stiff dough. Press into floured shallow pan, pressing firmly and thin. Bake in moderate oven 15 minutes until lightly brown. Remove and spread with layer of raspberry jam and top with following mixture:

1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Mix well and spread over jam. Return to oven for 30 minutes or until top is browned (350 degrees). Cut in squares. Let cool in pan.
