WHOLE GRAIN JAM SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. quick oats
2 c. all-purpose unbleached flour
1 1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. preserves (any flavor)

Combine all ingredients except preserves in large bowl. Beat with mixer at low speed until crumbly. Reserve 2 1/2 cups mixture; press remaining onto bottom of greased 13x9-inch pan. Spread preserves over base, then sprinkle with reserved mixture. Bake in preheated hot oven (400 degrees) 25-30 minutes; cool. Cut into squares. Great for an after-school snack for the kids.
