ITALIAN STYLE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE | |
This green bean casserole is a delicious accompaniment to roasted chicken and crispy potato wedges. 1 (12 oz.) bag frozen green beans 1/2 to 1 cup jarred Alfredo sauce, as desired 1/2 cup diced Roma tomatoes 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms 1/2 teaspoon crushed basil 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 2 tablespoons grated Romano or Parmesan cheese 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese 1/3 cup dry Italian style bread crumbs 2 pats butter, melted Preheat oven 350°F (325°F for glass) and coat 2-quart baking pan with cooking spray. Cook green beans according to package directions. Drain and place into large bowl. Stir in Alfredo sauce, tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, garlic powder and grated cheese. Pour into prepared baking pan. Top casserole with Mozzarella cheese. Combine bread crumbs and melted butter and sprinkle over top of cheese. Bake for 35 minutes or until bubbling and lightly browned. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
